Raisin in the Sun--Internet Scavenger Hunt

In this scavenger hunt, you will find an answer, copy it, and then paste it on a Word document. Number each item.

Log in and open a blank page for a new document.
Save it as: Your last name + Raisin.

At the top of the document put your name, the date, and your class period. Keep the document open for cutting and pasting scavenger hunt answers.

Open Internet Explorer and type in:

Mark it as a favorite, so you can get back to it, if necessary.

Then, click on the Timeline in the left column; then click on 1954-Present

 #1--Scroll way down and click on Lorraine Hansberry, 1959. Then click on her highlighted name. It will take you to a full page about her. Copy only the four sentences that pertain to Raisin in the Sun. Paste those sentences on your page and label them #1.

#2-#4--Find three other people in the ‘50’s that interest you. Read and copy the first paragraph about each. Then, paste them on your answer sheet and number them #2, #3, and #4.

For example: #1—Lorraine Hansberry, #2—Sugar Ray Robinson, #3—Chuck Berry and #4—Jackie Brown. (Remember that you can select any #2, #3, and #4, you want. Just make sure they are from the 50’s.)


#5--Read the information in this section and copy and paste the end of the
second paragraph that begins “In many cities & towns African Americans . . ..” that tells about discrimination on your answer sheet. Label it #5.
Under it write a sentence telling how you feel about that discrimination.

#6--Click on “School Desegregation”—the third bullet under “Speak Up for Your Rights”. Then click on school desegregation at the bottom of the page.
Copy the second paragraph that describes what the students faced during the first desegregation and label it #6 on your answer sheet. List four to five words to describe how those students might have feel about what they faced.


#7--Scroll way down to the New York Times’ article, “P. Diddy’s Broadway Crash Course” and copy and paste the first paragraph to your Word document. Underline what P. Diddy wanted to be called.

When you are done, you should have all the answers pasted on your Raisin document. Print it and turn it in.
